Animals with Special Needs
These animals might need a little extra attention or expense, but they are just as deserving of a home as any! Please take a moment to look and see if any capture your heart! If you can't adopt, but would like to help out- donation info is at the bottom of this page.

Blackie was born with a deformed left eye. It was not fully developed and was just a small slit with a small lump of unformed eye tissue iside the socket. The veterinarian who performed her spay felt it best that the lump be removed and the eye sewn shut, so debris could not collect in there and cause problems later. This photo was taken a few days after her surgery. The hair will soon grow back and she'll be even more beautiful! She has sleek, black hair and a winning personality. She is around a year old, and ready for her new home. It is worth going out of your way to meet her! |

Fiona was dumped on a shelter by a backyard breeder who had more puppies than he had buyers for. Since that shelter was then overrun with little black puppies, she was transferred her. She is very sweet, but also very shy, and will need some socialization and training to build her confidence level. She is not a nervous or nippy dog, and we feel she would do well with children- she seems to like them. She gets along well with other dogs and would be find with cats. Please consider Fiona, she is worth the effort! |

Isaac -. this photo was taken shortly after he arrived, he looks much more grown up now. He was a puppymill reject- discarded by the mill because they could not sell him to a pet store when he was a tiny baby. He got too old, and therefore "worthless" to them. When we got him, he was unsocialized and very head-shy (he doesn't like people touching his face). We have been working with him but the shelter is not the ideal environment for rehabbing a dog like this. Please read the Puppymill Survivor's Guide (below) if you think you might like to give Isaac a home. |
